Kenneth Kreitlow Sr., 88, of Dows, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at the USA Health Center in Dows. Services will be held Wednesday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Dows, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate.
Kenneth was born Aug. 12, 1912, at Blairsburg, to Herman and Sophia Peterson. When he was a child the family moved to Dows where he attended the Dows Schools. On Nov. 16, 1935, he married Rhoda Root in Indianola. He was employed by the Ellsworth Ranch, northwest of Dows as a farm hand for several years and later as a farm hand at Bradford. They farmed the Kreitlow farm for a time and in the early 80s, moved into Dows and farmed an acreage north of there.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda; a son, Kenneth Jr. and wife, Judy, of Kirbyville, Mo.; a daughter, Karolyn Ellis and husband, LaVerne of Grandview, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Opal Samuelson, Hazel Newman, both of Des Moines, and Vivian Greiman of Goodell. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters. The Elledge Funeral Home of Dows is in charge of arrangements.
