Hilda Kristina Jones, 100, of Hampton died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Franklin Hospital Nursing Center. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton, with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Miller will officiate.

Hilda was born July 22, 1901, in rural Dows, to Mads and Katherine Pederson, Danish immigrants. Hilda attended grade school in Dows, graduated from Coulter High School and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College where she studied music and received a teaching certificate. She taught in rural Franklin County schools before her marriage to Ralph Jones in 1924 in Waterloo. She shared her musical talent by playing at weddings, private parties, funeral, local dances and silent movies. Hilda played at the Hampton Tea Room with Jack Bailey, who later became a celebrity on the TV show, "Queen for a Day." She taught piano students until she was in her mid-90s. Hilda was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church, and was active in the Treble Cleft Music Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Peterson and son-in-law, Roger Peterson, of Mount Vernon, Wash.; a grandson, Scott Khwaja and wife, Christine, of Loveland, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Nile. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Ralph Jones Jr., a daughter, Helen Jones, and five brothers and sisters.
