LUVERNE - Orville Eldon Anderson was born Sept. 2, 1918, at LuVerne to Emil and Alice (Holt) Anderson. Orville graduated from LuVerne High School in 1936, and married Leah Miller on Aug. 18, 1937, in Eagle Grove. Orville farmed from 1937 - 1955 on the family farm near LuVerne and farmed from 1955 until he retired in the early 1980's, near Corwith. He then moved into Algona. He became a resident of the Good Samaritan Communities in Algona in January 2004, and died there on Monday, April 2, 2007, at the age of 88. Orville and Leah spent winters for 20 years in Mesa, Ariz. He also enjoyed bowling, golf, playing cards and ballroom dancing. He was an avid sports enthusiast and followed high school and junior college basketball. In high school he played basketball and baseball. Orville was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Algona.

Survivors include his sons, Larry E. Anderson and wife, Karen, of Alexandria, Minn., and Michael L. Anderson and wife, Denise, of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Eric Anderson, Tammy Naig, Mike Anderson, Pam Anderson and Marni Anderson as well as five great-grandchildren: Vance Anderson, Paige Naig, Dean Anderson, Alexa Naig and Bailey Naig.
Orville was the last surviving child of Emil and Alice Anderson. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one son Bob and one grandson Theron.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 5, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Orthel presiding of Algona at 10:30 a.m. Interment was at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Algona was in charge of arrangements.
