Clarise Mahany, 91, of Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids, died there Thursday, March 29, 2007, after a long illness. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Harlan Gillespie and the Rev. Carol Sundberg. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Clarise is survived by her husband of 37 years, Eugene Mahany; her daughters, Diane Tucker of Birmingham, Ala., and Debra Tucker of Minneapolis; her sister, Madora Peterson of Spencer; three stepchildren, Linda Neilsen of Cedar Rapids, Richard Mahany of Milwaukee, Wis., and Janis Butterfield of Austin, Texas; and Pam Mahany Lucken. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jesse Goin of New York City, Seth Goin of Minneapolis, Kyle Tucker-Davis of Birmingham, Ala., Erica and Andrew Neilsen, both of Ames, Laine Butterfield of Austin, Texas, and Brandon Carr of Virginia Beach, Va. Clarise was preceded in death by her parents and her stepsons, Jerry Tucker and Ronald Mahany.

Clarise was born May 18, 1915, to Joseph and Gertrude Johnson, in Wright County, Iowa. She married Harold Allison, who died in 1948, and Carl Tucker, who died in 1966. She married Eugene Mahany in 1970. Clarise was a local artist who shared her talent generously both through teaching art and through displaying her work.
