IOWA FALLS—E. Clair Gaulke, 85, of Iowa Falls died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188 of Iowa Falls. The Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is in charge of arrangements.

E. Clair Gaulke was born on Sept. 16, 1919, in Dows, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Hackley) Gaulke. He graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1937 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Doris Goretzka on Aug. 14, 1941, in Paris, Kan. After her death in 1981, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Granzow on July 16, 1982, in Iowa Falls. He had co-owned G&K Wholesale and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Highland Golf Club, VFW, Iowa Falls Elks Lodge No. 1674, Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188 and the Disabled American Veterans. He loved to play cribbage and golf, and enjoyed being with his coffee friends and his Monday night group at the golf club.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gaulke of Iowa Falls; a step-son, Jim Granzow and Alexia of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Betty Winters and her husband, Bounce of Iowa Falls; two special nephews, Gary Winters and his wife, Chris of St. Joseph, Mo., and Jerry Winters of California; two step-grandchildren, Tyler Granzow and his wife, Kendy, and Brock Granzow and his wife, Jenn, all of West Des Moines; two step-great-grandchildren, Cole and Brooke Granzow; two great-nephews, Todd Winters and his wife, Stacey, and Matt Winters of St. Joseph, Mo.; one great-great-nephew, Jack Winters of St. Joseph, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Maryln Humphrey and his wife, Dorothy of Iowa Falls; one sister-in-law Gretchen Gaulke of California; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Doris Gaulke; a brother, Kenneth Gaulke; and a step-son, Bob Granzow.
