Lavon "GG" Bridges, 91, of Dows, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Lavon "GG" Bridges will be 1:30 Tuesday at the Linn's Funeral Chapel, Iowa Falls, with burial at the Fairview Cemetery, Dows, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls.

Lavon Olinger was born November 18, 1915 on the family farm in Story County, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Hazel [Crane] Olinger. She attended the Dows Community Schools. On January 7, 1934, Lavon was united in marriage to DeWayne "Pat" Bridges at Hampton, Iowa. To this union two sons were born: Ronald and Gene. She and Pat farmed for many years in the Dows area and she was also employed at the Midwest Egg Processing Plant, Alexander, Iowa; worked many years with her husband at Pat's Fruit Stand, Dows, Iowa, and after her husband's death in 1977, she was employed at Casey's in Dows, Iowa until her retirement. She was a member of the Dows United Methodist Church, the Jolly Workers Club of Dows, the Trusty Twenty Club of Dows, and the Dows Senior Citizens.

Lavon Bridges is survived by her two sons: Ronald (Darlene) Bridges of Garner, Iowa; Gene Bridges of Iowa Falls, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Michael (Ruth) Bridges of Garner, Dannie (Diane) Bridges of Dows, Iowa, Connie (Larry) Speaker of Goodell, Iowa, Blair (Teresa) Bridges of Garner, Calleen (Tom) Young of Duncon, Iowa, Rob Bridges of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Monica Bridges and Fiancé: David Craighton of Dows, Iowa; seventeen great grandchildren: fourteen great grandchildren; and one sister: Ida Rose Ver Helst of Belmond, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and Hazel Olinger; her husband Pat Bridges; one grandson: Barry Bridges; one great-great grandson: Jamison Bridges; and two brothers: Homer Olinger and Kenneth Olinger.
