DOWS—Wayne Delmar Bennewitz, 81, of Dows passed away at his home Tuesday, July 19, 2005. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 23, at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home in Dows with the Rev. David Gobeli officiating. Burial was at Morgan Township Cemetery in rural Dows.

Wayne Delmar Bennewitz, son of Henry and Minnie (Warschkow) Bennewitz, was born Feb. 11, 1924, at Hampton. He was raised and educated in the Dows area, attending Morgan Country School No. 7 until the eighth grade. He then attended school in Dows. Wayne enjoyed farming, and had farmed most of his adult life near Dows. He loved auto racing, fixing cars and general mechanical work. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. Everyone thought Wayne had a nice smile.

Wayne is survived by his sister, Eileen Johnson and her husband, Henry of Parkersburg; two nieces; one nephew; three great-nephews; four great-nieces; and one great-great-niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie.
