Mrs. Elmer Oldson Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Elmer [Alice M.] Oldson, 68, died Thursday morning at the Rotary Ann Home where she had resided for the past six months. Mrs. Oldson had been ill for about two years, and was hospitalized several times during her long illness. She is survived by her husband, and one son Charles Oldson, also three grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters, Ralph and Jim Anderson and Mrs. Laura Rhiner of Eagle Grove; Ed Anderson of Wadena, MN; Mrs. Emma Bogard of Corwith and Mrs. Ethel Baesler of Humboldt.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Congregational Church at 2:30 in charge of the pastor Rev. Ivan Smith. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Oldson was a member of the Congregational Church where she had served as a deaconess, and was active in the women's Guild. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Elmer R. Oldson was born March 14, 1895 to John and Margaret Anderson on a farm five miles northwest of Eagle Grove, Iowa, in Humboldt County. Later she moved with her parents to farm near Hardy, Iowa.Alice Myrtle was one of a family of twelve children. She attended the Eagle Grove schools while making her home with her sister, Millie and her brother-in-law Peter Dorem.
On September 30, 1914 she was united in marriage to Elmer Oldson also of Eagle Grove, where they have since made their home.
One son Charles was born to Mr. and Mrs. Oldson.
Mrs. Oldson was a member of the First Congregational Church of The United Church of Christ for many years. She was actively engaged in the Women's Fellowship and was serving as a deaconess when she became ill about two years ago. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was sincerely interested in people and was a real inspiration to those who knew her well.
Mrs. Oldson died at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa on Thursday morning, September 19, 1963 at the age of 68. She had been a resident there six and a half months.
Surviving are her husband, her son and daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, Martha, Robert, and Joanne; three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Laura Rhiner, Ralph and James Anderson, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Emma Bogard, Corwith; Edwin Anderson, Wadena, Minn.; and Ethel, Mrs. Frank Baessler, Humboldt.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters and two brothers, Lida, Mrs. Peter Dorem; Minnie, Mrs. Ed Queary; Alma, Mrs. Bert Lewison; William and Jess Anderson.
