PETER DOREM IS BURIED TUESDAY
Peter Dorem, 75, died at his home on S. Jackson Ave. Sunday afternoon, at three-thirty. Mr. Dorem had been in failing health for about a year, but his final illness was but a days duration and came following a stroke suffered on Saturday. He is survived by his wife, and one daughter, Mrs. Eva Brunson of Washington, D.C., one grandson, Clifford Brunson of Washington, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Norman Lindhart of Jeffeson, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Dorem celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February, 1947. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational church at two-thirty, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Walter Ross. Burial was in the Vernon Cemetery, Humboldt county. Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral included: Mrs. Brunson, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lindhart, Mrs. Grace Bullinger and son, Chicago: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lewison of Des Moines, and many relatives from Livermore, Corwith, Renwick and Hardy.Peter Dorem, son of Ole Dorem and Bertha Peterson Dorem, was born at Etna, Norway, August 13, 1872. The family moved to Morris, Illinois in the spring of 1874, wher they lived until Peter was 14 years old. In 1886, they moved to Eagle Grove and soon to a farm near Vincent in Webster County, where they lived for the next twelve years. Mr. Dorem was married to Lida Mildred Anderson at Humboldt, February 24, 1897. Two children were born to them, a son and a daughter. The son, John O. Dorem, preceded his father in death in 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Dorem farmed near Vincent, Renwick, and Goldfield, and in 1907 moved to Eagle Grove where they have since resided. Mr. Dorem has been a well driller most of the years since 1907. Mr. Dorem was baptized in the Lutheran church in Norway, was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Morris, Illinois, when a youth. For the past several years he and Mrs. Dorem have been members of the First Congregational Church of Eagle Grove. He was a member of Golden Links Lodge No. 68, I.O.O.F. Eagle Grove, Junietta Lodge No. 185 Rebekah of Eagle Grove, also of the encampment and auxilliary. His public school education was at Morris, Illinois. Mr. Dorem died Sunday afternoon, April 4, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 21 days, following a year of illness, culminating in a serious stroke a day before his death.
He leaves in tender memory besides his wife, Mrs. Eva Brunson, and grandson Clifford Brunson of Washington, D.C., a granddaughter, Mrs. Norman Lindhart of Jefferson, Iowa; a nephew, Herbert O. Thompson, and a niece, Mrs. Grace Bullinger of Chicago, Ill., besides other relatives and friends.
