George R. Anderson, 86, of Goldfield, died Wednesday (Oct. 23, 1996) at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Holmes Evangelical Lutheran Church, Holmes, with the Rev. Carlton Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.

George R. Anderson was born Aug. 22, 1910, at Leland, Ill. Survivors include two sons, Richard Anderson, Fort Dodge, and Vernon Anderson of Apple Valley, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norvel Anderson of Clarion, and Roger Anderson of Independence; and seven sisters, Julia Swenson of Belmond; Gladys Spainhower of Clarion; Betty Delger of Clarion, Mildred Smith, Belmond; Helen Busick of Clarion; Ruth Lamfers of Salena, Kan., and Arlene Smith of St. Cloud, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers and one infant brother.
