Melodie A. Kinsley, 48, of 616 S. Carolina Ave., Mason City, passed away Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) from injuries received in an auto accident. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Belmond with the Rev. Lynne Spencer-Smith officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and will resume one hour prior to the services at the church Tuesday.

Melodie, the daughter of Irwin "Irv" and Donna Masters Kinsley, was born June 8, 1952, in Battle Creek, Mich. She was raised and attended schools in the Battle Creek area of Michigan. Melodie graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1970. She then attended nursing school at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich., graduating in 1973. Following graduation from nursing school, she was employed as a nurse in various areas in the Midwest, settling in Mason City in 1990. Melodie graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake in 1995 and recently graduated with honors from North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. She was currently pursuing her master's degree at St. Mary's University in Rochester, Minn. Melodie was dedicated to volunteering her time at North Iowa Humane Society in Mason City where she was currently a board member. She was also a member of the MENSA Society.

Melodie is survived by her parents, Irwin "Irv" and Donna Kinsley of Belmond; two sisters, Jeanette and her husband, Dr. Ronald Schwab, of Standish, Mich., and Jane Schor of Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers, Charles and his wife, Cydney Kinsley, of Standwood, Mich., Edward and his wife, Julie Kinsley, of Spencer, and Bryan Kinsley of Lake Villa, Ill.; three nephews, Jeff and John Schwab and David and his wife, Amy Anselm; six nieces, Jessica and her husband, Mark Roelfsema, Amy Kinsley, Angela Kinsley, Mia Kinsley, Abby Schwab and Beth and her husband, Erick Ladorecky. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of North Iowa at 1520 N. Federal, Mason City.
