Billie J. McNutt, 78, of Belmond, passed away Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002) at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Memorial services for Billie J. McNutt will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church west of Belmond, with Pastor Lowell Halvorson, officiating. Inurnment will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Amsterdam Cemetery near Goodell. Visitation for Billie J. McNutt will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond.
Billie, the daughter of William and Ida Frohling Harbison, was born Sept. 1, 1924, at Garner. She grew up in North Iowa. Billie's family lived in Pocahontas and Eagle Grove before returning to Garner. Billie graduated from Garner high school in 1942. Billie was united in marriage to Robert R. McNutt on Dec. 6, 1945, in Garner. The couple made their home near Belmond where Billie worked as a housewife and mother. She was also very instrumental in helping Robert in the cob buying business. Billie worked for a time as a telephone operator and also as a clerk at Anthony's Department Store in Belmond. She moved into Belmond in 1996. Billie enjoyed doing handwork. She was very accomplished at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She sewed various wedding blessings and baptismal towels for St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Billie also sewed monograms for local organizations and businesses. Billie enjoyed watching the Western channel and was an avid walker. She is remembered as a hard worker, a wonderful friend and a loving mother. Billie was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church where she participated in the women's groups.
Billie is survived by two daughters, Billie Annette McIntyre and husband, Jack Fiening, of Cleveland, Ohio and Patricia Tideback and fiancé, Nick Streff, of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Michael and wife, Ramona, of Belmond and James and wife, Donna, of Yuma, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Marlys McNutt-Nail, of Webster City; eight grandchildren, Stacey, Molly, Matt, Jasmine, Josh, Jacob, Andrew, and Bobby; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Elna Stearns, of Garner, Lorene Petty and husband, Jack, of Kansas, Enola Madsen, of Illinois, Clare Molander and husband, Royal, of Garner, and Helene Maly and husband, Dale, of Garner; one brother, Bud Pruyn, of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents;husband, Robert Sr.; one son, Robert Jr.; one sister; and one brother.
