Louise May Loth, 94, of Belmond, died on Sunday, November 27, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, November 30, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond, with Rev. Rod Hopp officiating. Burial was in the Belmond Cemetery.

Louise was born on November 17, 1911, to Charles and Mary (Pabbeldt) Haupt southeast of Belmond, on the farm which had been homesteaded by her grandfather, August Haupt in 1875. She graduated from the Belmond High School and then went to Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Beta. She taught grades 1-8 in a one-room school near Kanawha. She met Louis Loth at a dance in 1936. Both were quick to say that it was "love at first sight" and they were inseparable for 66 years. As newlyweds they worked as farm hands for Nels Anderson near Clear Lake in order to save money for the machinery they would need. Beginning in 1940 they farmed the land where she was born. The family loved to listen to stories of early farm life. One of her proudest moments was when the home place was named a Century Farm in August 1995. After retiring in 1967, Louie and Louise went on numerous fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada and wintered for many years in Florida. They moved into town in 1992. Louise loved playing hearts, fishing, shopping, gardening, reading, and especially mowing the lawn. She had a life long passion for horses. Her ultimate joy in later years was spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death were her husband; daughter, Mary Lou Robbins-Wells; her parents; and brothers, Irving and Claire Haupt. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Rasmussen of Des Moines; grandchildren, Rodney (Nikki) Rasmussen of Des Moines, Robbie (Callie) Rasmussen of Des Moines, LuJeanne (Ron) Fink of Belmond, Jolene Robbins of Belmond, Bradley (Georgia) Robbins of Forest City and Brian (Glenda) Robbins of Clear Lake; and great-grandchildren, Loren and Amanda Robbins, Sara, Tiffany and Bob Fink, Sammy Robbins and Tyler Bersetti.
