Gretchen Arends, 30, of Aurora, Colorado, died in an auto accident on Friday, November 11, 2005. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2005, at the Woodmen Valley Stone Chapel in Colorado Springs.

Gretchen Faye, the daughter of John and Judy Arends, was born on December 3, 1974 in Mankato. A resident of Colorado Springs since 1984, she attended the Air Academy Grade School and graduated from the Rampart High School in 1992. Gretchen was a loan officer in the mortgage lending industry most of her adult life, starting her career before age 23, and recently with Pulte Mortgage in Denver. She consistently received excellent customer service recognition from those she served. She enjoyed family Christmases, reading, composing pencil sketches, camping, time at the ocean, and collecting ceramic turtles.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry and Marian Arends. Gretchen is survived by her beloved daughter, Sierra Jamie who now resides with her grandparents, John and Judy Arends of Colorado Springs. Also surviving are maternal great grandparents, Lawrence and Ramona Schrader of Easton, Minnesota; and sisters, Heather Arends (Kunce) and Tiffany Arends. Local relatives include uncle, Dale (Trese) Arends and aunt, Lynne (Lee) Aldrich.
