Merlin J. Ackerson, 73, died on Friday, November 11, 2005, at his home in Keokuk. Funeral services were held on November 15, 2005, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk. Rev. Ackerson was born on May 18, 1932 in Fairmont, Minnesota. He graduated from the Humboldt High School, Cornell College, and the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1958 and served many Methodist churches including Rowan, Alexander, Lake Mills, Thompson and Mason City First. He was a District Superintendent in Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, James (Mary Boyd) Ackerson; and daughters, Katherine (Steve) Gabel and Rebecca (James) Bowden all of Keokuk.
