RED OAK — Mary Margaret Dutcher, the daughter of Roy B. and Marcella Denise (Gordon) Hall was born April 23, 1941, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She died on Tuesday (Sept. 9, 2003) after a short illness at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 62 years, four months and 17 days. Mary lived in Eagle Grove until the age of 14, when her family moved to Mason City, Iowa. She graduated from Mason City High School in l959. Mary attended Mason City Junior College, graduating from Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. She was united in marriage to Tom Dutcher on June 6, 1964, at Mason City. She taught school in various northern Iowa communities until moving to Red Oak in l976. Mary taught Home Economics at the Red Oak Middle School and was the FHA advisor for many years. She also taught classes for Southwestern Community College in Red Oak and worked part time with the Montgomery County Family YMCA. Mary was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, having served on the church council several terms. She was active with organizations such as; Touchstone, Jazzercise, Book Club, and judging exhibits at county fairs in Southwestern Iowa and Eastern Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers in infancy. Mary is survived by two daughters, Leslie Dutcher of New York, N.Y. and Allison Ruhl and husband, Kevin, of Red Oak, Iowa; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn; and other relatives and many friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak, with the Rev. Dr. George Hooper officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.
