KANAWHA - Steven Paul Eekhoff, 46, of Kanawha, passed away Monday (Sept. 11, 2000) as the result of a farm accident near Kanawha. Funeral services for Steve Eekhoff will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the West Hancock High School in Britt, with Pastor Charles Walton officiating. Burial will be in the Wright Christian Reformed Church Cemetery near Kanawha. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt and one hour prior to services at the high school.
Steve, the son of Paul and Jennie Boverhuis Eekhoff, was born May 5, 1954, in Belmond. He grew up in the Kanawha area and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1972. Steven then attended Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove. Steve was united in marriage with Connie Lynn Burgardt on April 11, 1981, at the Evangelical Free Church in Britt. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Britt and Forest City. They later moved to Missouri where Steve raised livestock and was employed by Premium Standard Farms. The family then moved to the Kanawha area where Steve farmed until the time of his death. Steve was a loving father who enjoyed watching his children participate in sports. He loved visiting and having coffee with his many friends. Steve was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. Steve was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Britt. His faith was very important to him. He was a former member of the Pork Producers Board.
Steve is survived by his wife, Connie Lynn; three children, Ben, Linda and Jessica, all at home; parents, Paul and Jennie Eekhoff, of Kanawha; two sisters, Ruth Greving and her husband, Mark, of Alton, and Diane Amonson and her husband, Kyle, of Eagle Grove; one brother, Dean Eekhoff and his wife, Lynette, of Holland, Mich.; grandmother, Louise Boverhuis, of Hollandale, Minn.; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfathers. Ewing Funeral Home.
