INDIANOLA - Ervin N. "Erv" Ogland, 75, of Indianola, died Friday (Sept. 1, 2000) at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola, with military rites to follow services at the church. Visitation will be held from 10:30 until 11 a.m. on Saturday in the fellowship room at the church. Overton Funeral Home, 501 W. Ashland Ave., Indianola, is in charge of arrangements. The body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Memorial contributions may be given to his church, the Iowa Heart Association or the Warren County Conservation Board in his memory.

Ervin N. Ogland was born Aug. 22, 1925, to Edwin and Nellie (Dueland) Ogland, on a farm near Eagle Grove in Wright County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation ordinance man in the Pacific Theater and in Africa. Following the war, he worked for Winnebago Industries in Forest City before moving to Indianola in 1965. He was a production foreman for McCoy and Kayot Manufacturing and later worked in their research and development department. Following their closing in Indianola, he worked 17 years as a stationary engineer at the Indianola Light Plant, retiring at age 62. He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 165 in Indianola.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, of Indianola; daughter, Suzann Ogland Hand of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a son, Ed, of Toledo, Iowa; three sisters, Anna Trotter of Des Moines, Mildred Knight of Clarion and Helen Russell, of Twin Lakes, Wis.; and two grandchildren. Overton Funeral Home.
