Bertha Olson dies after long illness

Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, May 3, 1965, at 2 p. m, at Holmes Lutheran church for Mrs. Bertha Johanna Olson, 86, former Clarion resident, who died Saturday at the Rotary Ann Home, Eagle Grove, where she had been a patient the past month. The Rev. B. F. Molstre of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, formerly of Eagle Grove, officiated, and burial was in Norway Township Cemetery, Clarion. Marcia Wagner accompanied Mrs. Ted Koltvet, who sang. Pallbearers were Orville Wicks, Everett Wicks, Ray Wicks, Helmar Maage, Sherman Tesdahl and Lismore Stole. The Eyler Funeral Home, Clarion, was in charge of arrangements.

Born April 13, 1880 at Herscher, Ill., Iroquois County, she was baptized and confirmed at Grand Prairie Lutheran Church in Herscher. In 1895 the family moved to Wright County. February 22, 1910 she was united In marriage to Elias Olson. She lived on the same farm since 1918. She was a member of the Holmes Lutheran church. Surviving are two sons, Orvllle Olson, Zearing, Iowa and Ernest Olson, Seymour, Iowa, and two daughters. Mrs. Bennie (Eleanor) Eye, Clarion and Genevieve Olson, Minneapolis, Minnesota; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Louise Munson, Springfield, Oregon and three brothers, Cryder Wicks, Kanawha, Herman Wicks and Melvln Wicks, Lewistown, Montana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias, in 1953, one son and two daughters.
