Funeral Services were held May 7 at the Methodist church in Dows at two o'clock for Gladys Lenora Hofsommer, age 66, of Dows, who died at the Franklin Hospital at Hampton on May 4. Rev. Donald Harbour and Rev. Thomas Stewart officiated. The Van Hove Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She was born December 15, 1899 at Dows, the daughter of Morris and Maude Leach Carpenter and was a lifelong resident of the Dows area. She was married to Charles Hofsommer August 27, 1918 at Hampton. She Is survived by her husband, Charles, and one daughter, Mrs. Raymond Reif of Staeger, Ill.. and two sons, Earl Hofsommer of Dows, and Roy of Jefferson. Also surviving are the following brothers, Earl Carpenter of Mankato, Minn., Lionel of Decatur, Ia., Fay of Webster City and Elmer of Clarion, 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She was preceded In death by her parents, two sons, Dale and Walter, one daughter, Evelyn Mae, and two sisters.
