Jolynn "Jody" Schrage, 45, of Granger, IN, passed away Jan. 9, 2007 in Houston, TX after complications from cancer surgery. Mrs. Schrage was born on June 9, 1961 in Belmond, IA to Marlin and Ardith, nee Johnson, Jenison who both survive of Urbandale, IA. On Aug. 9, 1986, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Des Moines, IA, she married David Schrage, who survives of Granger. Her husband is the Head Baseball Coach at the University of Notre Dame. Other survivors include two daughters, Kaitlyn and Brianne Schrage both of Granger; one sister Terri (Don) Leick of Minneapolis, MN; her paternal grandmother Maxine Jenison; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Greg and Mary Schrage; four nephews and one niece, Jordan, Taylor, Christopher, David and Morgan; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Jody was predeceased by her brother David Jenison and a grandmother Lenora Johnson. Jody was a 1979 graduate of Urbandale High School where she was a member of both the basketball and softball teams and was selected for First Team All-State in 1979. Jody graduated in 1983 from Creighton University with a degree in Elementary Education and also was awarded the Carl M. Reinert, S.J. Scholar Athlete award. She taught for 10 years in various elementary schools and as a physical education teacher. She was the head softball coach in three schools, Woden-Crystal Lake, Lake Mills, and Waverly-Shell Rock. In 1989 she was inducted into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Hall of Fame and also played in three College World Series while at Creighton. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Monday in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame, with Rev. John M. DeRiso, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at McGann Hay Funerals Cremations Gatherings, Granger Chapel,13260 SR23, enter off Cherry Rd. There will be a Scripture Service at 6 p.m. in the funeral home lead by Rev. Nathan D. Wills, CSC. Jody will be remembered for her fun loving spirit, passion for games and love for her friends and children. She had a strong faith and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church-South Bend where, like at many other churches she belonged to over the years; she was an active volunteer and was frequently involved in service projects in the communities which she lived. Jody loved animals, was a very devoted mother to her two children and was very supportive of her husband's coaching career. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to The Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation for Niemann-Pick Type-C Disease, 3530 E.
