Robie Droste, age 50, of Boone, and formerly of Manson, died Dec. 23, 2006, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone. Burial will be in the Quincy Cemetery, south of Moingona. Robie was born on March 5, 1956, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Robert and Marlene (Kilcoyne) Droste. He graduated from Oelwein High School in 1974. On March 17, 2001, Robie married Jan (Armstrong) Schultz in Boone. Since April of 1993, he has been employed as a railroad engineer, first for Chicago Northwestern Railway, and presently in Eagle Grove for the Union Pacific Railroad. In earlier years while living in Manson, he was a school bus driver and custodian for the Manson School System.

He is preceded in death by his father. Robie is survived by his wife, Jan, of Moingona; his mother, Marlene Droste of Oelwein; two sons, Jeff Droste of Story City and Joey Droste of Boone; a daughter, Kellie Henniges of Oelwein; two stepdaughters, Jodi Schultz of Boone and Jessica Kline of Big Lake, Minn.; a brother, Steven Droste of Fort Dodge; a sister, Nanette Droste of Waverly; 12 grandchildren; his former wife Denise (Robinson) Droste of Oelwein.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, from noon until 9 p.m. where a Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. and the family will be present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral chapel from 8 to 10 a.m.
