Dorothy Evelyn Jones, 86, of Eagle Grove, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services were held Monday, April 5th at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Dorothy Evelyn Crowl was born July 26, 1917, the daughter of Herbert and Lenore (Debord) Crowl at Goldfield. She was raised and educated in Goldfield and graduated from the Goldfield High School in 1935. On May 17, 1936, Dorothy and Eldon Irving Pletcher were united in marriage. Dorothy and Eldon farmed in the Eagle Grove and Clarion area until Eldon’s death on December 9, 1961. After Eldon’s death, Dorothy moved to Webster City and was employed by the Hamilton County Hospital on the housekeeping staff and eventually as the night switchboard operator. She worked at the hospital for 18 years. Dorothy married Francis Adrian Jones on November 25, 1978 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Webster City, but spent many winters in Tucson, Arizona. They moved to Tucson in the fall of 1995. Dorothy and Francis returned to Eagle Grove in the fall of 1996. In April of 1999, both Dorothy and Francis moved into the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove. Francis preceded Dorothy in death on July 14, 2002.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard Pletcher and wife, Judy of Clarion, Ronnie Pletcher and wife, Betty of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Jean Ann Jones of Kingman, Arizona and Wanda Jones Hassman and husband, Edward of Huntsville, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Crowl and wife, Ruby of East Dubuque, Illinois and Phillip Crowl and wife, Wilma of Humboldt. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; sons-in-law, Jim Hrabak and Leroy Jones; one granddaughter, Teresa Pletcher Backues; and one brother, Robert Crowl.
