Alice M. Peterson, 66, of Belmond, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at the Belmond Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, September 8, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father David Beckman and Deacon Nick Schmit officiating. Burial was in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Alice Mae, the daughter of Morse and Marie (Leens) Hunst, was born on March 15, 1937 in Belmond. She graduated from the Belmond High School in 1956. Later that year she married Bob Iehl. They made their home in Belmond. In 1973 she married Jim Peterson. The couple made their home in Belmond. Alice was a homemaker, worked in daycare for twenty years, and also worked as a waitress. Family was very important to Alice, and her life revolved around her three girls. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and the Trampel Arena Rodeos. Alice liked listening to Alan Jackson. She was a very upbeat, positive person. Alice had a strong faith and was very involved at the St. Francis Xavier Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Iehl; husband, Jim Peterson; one child in infancy; and one brother in infancy. Alice is survived by her daughter, Deb (Matt) Studer of Belmond; granddaughters, Katie Magnuson and Cheyenne Studer of Belmond; sisters, Laura Saunders of Belmond and Bonnie Stewart of Garner; mother-in-law, Janice Olinger of Meservey; sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Rich) Rodamaker of Charles City and Charlene (Willis) Anderson of Belmond; brother-in-law, Dean Bridges of Mason City; nieces and nephews, Jill Stoffer and her husband, Mark Allen of Belmond, Lonny Stoffer of Missouri, Leland Stoffer of Florida, Pam (John) Van Gerpen of Garner, Amy Modderman of Illinois and Jane (Pat) Greiman of California.
