Voral Basener, 83, of Clarion, died on Thursday, July 10, 2003, at her home. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 14, at the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion, with Pastors Candace Adams and Janet Wearda officiating. Burial was in the Amsterdam Cemetery near Goodell. Music was provided by Mary Kallem, organist. Casket bearers were, SSgt. Greg Hansen, Derek Hanna, Tom Dailey, Kevin Hadley, Al Durbin, Doug Adams and Ferd Lemke.

Voral, the daughter of Elmer and Alma McNutt Kienenberger, was born on October 18, 1919 near Goodell. She grew up in that area and graduated from the Goodell High School in 1937. Voral married Francis Finn in October 1937. They lived in Goodell, and he died in 1944. She married Vern Schluter in February 1946 and they lived in Meservey. They had five daughters. In 1961 Vern and Voral moved to Goodell and in 1985 they moved to the Belmond Apartments. Vern died in April 1997. Voral married Herbert Basener in July 1998 and they lived in Belmond until 2001, when they moved to Clarion. Voral was a member of the Goodell United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and led Bible Studies and the youth fellowship. In Clarion she was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was a 4-H Leader and enjoyed crochet, latch work and using a computer.

Voral was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Francis and Vern; and twin daughters, Sharon and Sheila. Survivors include her husband, Herb; daughters, Sheryl (Dan) Hanna of Colorado Springs, Sandy (Glenn) Hansen of Rowan and Sueanne (Gary) French of Ackley; grandchildren, Kelli and her husband, Jim, Derek, Kerri, Greg, Jennifer, Lindsay, and Ashley; and great-grandchildren, Haley, Jimmie, Brandon and Paityn. Other children, Evelyn (Tom) Daily of Greene, Velma (Al) Durbin of Lohman, Missouri, Nancy (Martin) Kroeze of Sedalia, Missouri, Lawrence (Wanda) Basener of Belmond, David (Donna) Basener of Meservey; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
