Hazel Anderson, 92, of Dows, died on Thursday, January 23, 2003, at the Franklin General Nursing Facility in Hampton. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 27, at the Presbyterian Church in Dows.

Hazel, the daughter of Martin and Rena Battin Ellenberger, was born on February 14, 1919, near Bloomfield. She married V. O. "Andy" Anderson in 1930 at Princeton, Missouri. They had a daughter, Kay. They moved to a farm near Dows in 1936. They helped operate the family hardware store and later opened Anderson Service in Webster City. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; and sister, Florence. Hazel is survived by brother, Cal (Katherine) Ellenberger of Des Moines.
