Eleanor Adaline Keppers, 91, died on Thursday, January 23, 2003, at the Trinity Medical Center in Fort Dodge. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 25, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Eleanor Adaline Kernan, the daughter of Michael J. and Aurelia (Sullivan) Kernan, was born on August 1, 1911. She lived on a farm near Goodell, moved to Belmond in the 4th grade, graduated from the Belmond High School and attended business school in Mason City. She taught in rural schools and also worked at the Post Office in Belmond. Eleanor married Roger P. Keppers on November 30, 1939. They farmed southeast of Eagle Grove until 1968, when they built a home and moved into town. Eleanor was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, and held Deanery offices in ACCW. She was also a member of the Equality Club and the Woolstock Homemakers.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; brothers, Raphael and Leo; and sisters, Aurelia Kernan, Mary Graepler and infant Agnes. Survivors include daughters, Kathleen (James) St. John of Hastings, Minnesota and Muriel (Kent) Gearhart of Eagle Grove; grandchildren, Patrick, Kristin, and Laura St. John, Pamela Girgen, Kristopher and Kendrick Gearhart, Karrie Rosales; and four great-grandchildren.
