Edythe Winifred Walrod, died on Thursday, January 2, 2003. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 6, at the Belmond United Methodist Church with burial in the Belmond Cemetery.

Edythe, the daughter of Thomas and Lida (Preston) Greenwood, was born on February 20, 1918, in Belmond. She graduated from the Belmond High School. She married Charles Walrod at Chillicothe, Missouri in 1942. After his death in 1965, Edythe worked as a cook at the Belmond High School until 1984. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Thelma and Evelyn Greenwood; and three brothers, Lawrence, Thomas Jr. and Robert Greenwood. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Wayne) Schlichting of Britt; son, Gary (Donna) Walrod of Belmond; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
