Glee Belle Mennenga, 81, of Belmond, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004, at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Wednesay, July 7, at Immanuel Reformed Church, Belmond. Glee, the daughter of Clarence and Violet Walker Hill, was born July 21, 1922, in Hanlontown, Iowa. She was raised in the Clear Lake area and graduated from Clear Lake High School. During WWII, Glee was employed at an airplane factory in Omaha, Neb. She later worked at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa; but first and foremost she was a housewife and mother. On Feb. 28, 1946, Glee was united in marriage with Elmer Waltzing in Klemme, Iowa. To this union five children were born. Elmer passed away in 1977. Glee was united in marriage with Don Mennenga on Jan. 4, 1979, in Belmond. Don passed away in 1983. She also enjoyed many years of companionship with Ed Pals. Glee's many hobbies included dancing at the Surf, cooking, quilting, playing Uno with her grandchildren and playing cards with friends. She loved cooking and washing clothes. A member of Immanuel Reformed Church in Belmond, Glee was also active in the Women's Group. She enjoyed the time spent with the Pleasant Peppy Pals 4-H club as a leader and judge.

Glee Belle is survived by two daughters, Jolene DeCarlo and her husband, Charles, of Truro, Iowa and Janice Creason and her husband, Chris, of Perry, Iowa; two sons, John Waltzing and his wife, Lee Ann, Belmond and Doug and his wife, Barb of Belmond; son-in-law, Larry Tisor, and Becky of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; extended family members, Dave Mennenga of Grand Island, Neb., Bob and Pat Mennenga and family of Omaha, and Marcia and Frank Bergmark and family of Grand Island; brother, Elston (Tony) Hill and his wife, Barbara, Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Marguerite Hoffland and her husband, Edward, Cresco, Iowa, Geri Klesel and her husband, George, Springfield, and sister-in-law, Mina Hill, Laguna, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Elmer and Don; daughter, Marilyn,; special friend and longtime companion, Ed Pals, great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; brother, Vern Hill; sister, Edna Morgan, and an infant sister, Wilma Jean.

Glee Belle Mennenga, 81, died on Saturday, July 3, 2004, at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 7, at the Immanuel Reformed Church near Belmond, with Rev. Rob Ford officiating. Interment was in the Alexander Cemetery. Music was provided by Shirley Kuhlers, organist and Stacia Creason, recorded music. Honorary casket bearers were Sara Waltzing, Kelli Showalter, Mary DeCarlo, Katie Studer, Stacia Creason, Jenna Waltzing, Gina Noftsger, Bob Mennenga and family. Casket bearers were Brian Tisor, Joe Showalter, Jeff Tisor, Scott Waltzing, Josh Studer and Dave Mennenga.

Glee, the daughter of Clarence and Violet Raymond Hill, was born on July 21, 1922 in Clear Lake. She graduated from the Clear Lake High School. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands; daughter, Marilyn; special friend, Ed Pals; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; one brother, Vern Hill; and sister, Edna Morgan. Glee Belle is survived by her daughters, Jolene (Charles) DeCarlo of Truro and Janice (Chris) Creason of Perry; sons, John (Lee Ann) Waltzing and Doug (Barb) Waltzing of Belmond; son-in-law, Larry Tisor and Becky of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and extended family, Dave Mennenga of Grand Island, Nebraska; Bob (Pat) Mennenga of Omaha; and Marcia (Frank) Bergmark of Grand Island; brother, Elston (Barbara) Hill of Springfield, Missouri; sisters, Marguerite (Edward) Hoffland of Cresco and Geri (George) Klesel of Springfield, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Almina Hill of Laguna, California.
