CRAPSER, STOLTENBERG, DEVRIES

Glen E. Crapser, 97, Belmond, died March 25, 2006 at the Belmond Health Care Center. Services will be held Friday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond with Pastor Lowell Halvorson officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to services at the church.

Glen Elmer, the son of Charles and Alma Stoltenberg Crapser, was born January 26, 1909 in Illinois. He grew up in the Dougherty and Rockwell areas where he attended country schools. At a very early age Glen started working at the Sheffield Garage. Glen married Juanita DeVries January 26, 1930 at Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They made their home in Minnesota for a time and moved to Belmond in 1934. Glen started working in the Hub Garage in Belmond and would later open his own garage. Crapser's Garage was destroyed by the tornado in 1966. After that, Glen started working for Len Sheldon then McLaughlin's car dealerships. Glen worked a total of 50 years; he was a lifetime mechanic. Glen was a volunteer fireman in Belmond for 19 years and served on the city council for ten years. He enjoyed woodworking and made eight grandfather clocks for his family. Glen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Richard in 2005. Glen is survived by his wife of 76 years; daughter-in-law Jackie Crapser of LaHabra Heights, CA; grandsons Craig (Karen) of Boise, ID and Mark of LaHabra Heights; and great grandchildren, David, Aaron and Kevin.
