Esther Astrid Otilde Roseland, 98, of Eagle Grove, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2006, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home, Eagle Grove. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 29, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Pastor Paul Stone and H. W. Schiller officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Esther Astrid Otilde Roseland, was born on June 19, 1908 in Earlville, Illinois, the daughter of Lars and Agnes (Svendsen) Anderson. She lived most of her life in the Eagle Grove/Clarion areas, attending school in Lake Township. She moved with her family to North Dakota near Courtney for a short time and then returned to the Clarion area. On November 14, 1928, Esther was united in marriage with Julius Roseland at the Lutheran Parsonage in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Julius preceded her in death in 1975. Esther was confirmed at the Holmes Lutheran Church and was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, where she was also active with church circle.

She is survived by her children, Donald E. Roseland and partner, Ron Mueller of Sun City West, Arizona, Marvin Roseland of Eagle Grove, Shirley Spangler and husband, Jerry of Sun City West, Arizona and Ellen McCurry and husband, Scott of Eagle Grove; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Knight of Goldfield, Lila Roseland of Eagle Grove and Lillian Stevenson and husband, Larry of Goldfield; and one brother, Alfred Anderson and wife, Virginia of Eagle Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Margaret Trotter; and two brothers, Art and Albert Anderson.
