Darlene Cellan, 75, of Clarion, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Wright Medical Center, Clarion. A celebration of life service was held on Tuesday, November 28, at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion. Rev. Curt Miner officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was in held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Darlene Cellan, was born on December 26, 1930 in Dows, the daughter of Laurel and Jennie (Wildeboer) Hill. She was raised and educated in Dows, attending country school and graduating from the Dows High School. While in high school, Darlene participated in girls' basketball and was a baton twirler. On November 13, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Cellan at the Dows Methodist Church. They made their home and raised their family in Clarion. Darlene worked at Saul's, Loren's and Doughtery's Jewelers, Clarion Clothing, State Farm Insurance, City Hall, Extension Office, read with the first graders at school, and volunteered at the hospital. She was a 50-year member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, serving on the Religious Education Committee, Women's Fellowship, Sunday School Teacher, and many other positions in the church. Darlene was also a past member of The Rebecca's Lodge, Royal Neighbors, VFW Auxiliary, and a Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed baking cookies, playing cards, knitting, crocheting and making quilts. She made all of her grandchildren quilts and afghans.

She is survived by two daughters, Deb Senger and husband, Mike of Clarion and Dani Kepler and husband, Jim of Boone; one son, David Cellan of Iowa Falls; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ken Hill and wife, Norma of Dows; one niece; and two nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and son, Doug.
