Hugh Townsend, 62, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Hugh Townsend, was born on October 7, 1943 in Glendale, California, the son of Hugh and Icel Townsend. Hugh moved to Clarion with his parents and sister, Pamela in 1955. His father was the Vocational Agriculture Instructor at the Clarion High School. Hugh was a standout athlete for Clarion High School in basketball, baseball and track. He graduated in 1961 and attended Iowa State University where he earned a degree in education. Hugh married Carol Bowman on July 11, 1965. They moved to the Chicago area where Hugh taught and coached in the Riverside-Brookfield School. After two years in education, Hugh entered the business world as a salesman for Air Filtration Engineers. He later became the General Manager and then owner of the small company where he was still employed at the time of his death. Hugh was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was an active member at the Crossroads Methodist Church in Bolingbrook, Illinois. He served as President of the Bolingbrook High School Booster Club and the National Organization for Air Filtration Handlers. He loved his family, church, friends and businesses and was dedicated to each.

Hugh is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Wendi Meech and husband, Ralph; Jennifer Claeys and husband, David: one son, Jeff Townsend and wife, Eileen; six grandchildren; one sister, Pam Townsend; father-in-law, Don Bowman and wife, Dolores; brother-in-law, Dennis Bowman and wife, Carolyn; sister-in-law, Chris Banken and husband, Dennis; one niece and four nephews.
