George Ellingson Rites Held Sept. 28 at Am. Lutheran

George A. Ellingson, 86, a resident of Milbank [SD] for the past eleven years, died at the St. Bernard's Hospital, after a long illness. He was born January 11, 1882, the son of Swen and Betsy Ellingson in Iowa. He received his education in Iowa. His marriage to Clara Johnson at Popejoy, Iowa took place February 19, 1913. They lived near Dows, Iowa for two years and Clarion, Iowa for nine years and then moved to Collis, Minn., where they lived until 1931. From 1931 to 1949 they farmed near Twin Brooks and then moved to Beresford, S. Dak., where they worked at the Bethesda Lutheran home until 1957 when they came to Milbank. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. William (LaVonne) Barlage, Twin Brooks and Mrs. Gail Dawson, Dows, Iowa, fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Six sisters, Mrs. Emma Gorder, Mrs. Orville Fults, Mrs. Gladys Prescott and Mrs. Bessie Swift, all of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Benson, Popejoy, Iowa, and Mrs. Ollie Craig, Ames, Iowa, also survive. The Rev. LeRoy Elster officiated at the funeral services at the American Lutheran church at 2 p. m. Saturday, September 28 and burial was made in the Milbank cemetery. Pallbearers were Albert Larson, August Westphal, Jack Morrison, Walter Anderson, Ben Fish and Otto Adolphsen.
