Mrs. Clara Ellingson Dies; Last Rites Set For This Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Josephine Ellingson, 75, Milbank, will be held this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. in the American Lutheran church with Rev. Harold Verhulst officiating. Mrs. Ellingson died Monday morning at St. Bernard's hospital. Born December 13, 1894 at Dows, Iowa, she was the daughter of John J. and Carrie Knutson Johnson. She was united in marriage with George Alfred Ellingson on Feb. 19, 1913 at Popejoy, Iowa. The couple resided on a farm near Twin Brooks for many years before they retired and moved to Milbank in 1968. Mrs. Ellingson had been a resident of the Whetstone Valley Nursing home prior to her last illness. She was a member of the American Lutheran church. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Gail Dawson, of Dows; three grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two half sisters, Mildred Hawkinson, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Alvera Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Mrs. William (LaVonne) Barlage. Pallbearers will be Otto Adolphsen, Marietta, Minn.; John J. Morrison and Jack Schaeffer, of Twin Brooks; Walter Anderson, Stockholm; and Clifford Hanson and Albert Larson, of Milbank. Interment will be in the Milbank cemetery.
