STANLEY ELVIN NEWMAN
August 26, 1926 - April 02, 1985Stanley E. Newman, 58, 508 N. 2nd St., died late Monday evening at the University of California Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, Calif., following a sudden illness. He and his wife were visiting in California when he became suddenly ill. Services with be Saturday at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Harold W. Dellit, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the Bruce Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Friday. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; sons, Charles, Des Moines; Mark, Union Grove, Wis.; Randall, Fresno Calif.; David and Richard, both of Fort Dodge; four grandchildren; stepmother, Mrs. Mamie Newman, Webster City; brothers, Robert Newman, Webster City, and Larry Newman, Silver Springs, MD.; sister, Mrs. Marion (Shirley) Leeper, Kamrar.
Mr. Newman was born on a farm near Woolstock and graduated from Webster City High School in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army Air Force, serving during World War II. He enrolled at Iowa State University, studying in the agricultural field. Following his education, he started farming in the Woolstock area. In 1952, he married Beverly Whipple in Clarion and they made their home in the Woolstock area where they farmed. In 1961, the family moved to Mason City where he was employed as a surveyor with Wallace and Holland Engineers, working there for several years. In 1964, he started working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, where he served as surveyor and assistant roadmaster. In 1969, the family moved to Fort Dodge and he continued his employment with the railroad as roadmaster. For the past five years, he has worked for the Iowa Division of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in the engineering department. Interment was in the North Lawn Cemetery of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
