Copyright- Mason City Globe GazetteGOLDFIELD - James A. Jewell, 53, of Goldfield, died Tuesday (March 27, 2001) at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Goldfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
James A. Jewell was born on Sept. 5, 1947, at Eagle Grove to Arthur Leroy and Ila Bernice (Harder) Jewell. He graduated from Goldfield High School in 1965. Following graduation he entered U.S. Army on Jan. 12, 1966, and was discharged on Oct. 13, 1968. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Gilligan on May 1, 1971, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. He worked all of his life in agriculture related fields. He enjoyed watching the Yankees play baseball, fishing, gardening and antiques. He was a member of the Goldfield United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Humboldt and the American Legion in Goldfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant nephew. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of Goldfield; two sons, D. Victor Jewell and his wife, Maria, of Olathe, Kan., and Mark Jewell of Goldfield; one daughter, Patricia, and her husband, Kirk Hardcastle, of Mason City; four grandchildren, Kayla Jewell, Madison Jewell, Aaron Hardcastle and Paige Jewell; two sisters, Nancy and her husband, Gary Willett, of Fort Dodge, and Donna Jewell, of Mason City; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
