MAUDE E. JONES, 81, LONGTIME RESIDENT, DIED WED., FEB. 4

Mrs. Lee (Maude E.) Jones of 221 S. 2nd, Sheffield, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1987, in Franklin General Hospital. She became ill in her home and was taken to the hospital on Saturday, Jan 31, where she underwent care and treatment until her death. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10:00 a.m. in Grarup Funeral Home at Sheffield. Rev. R.D. Streeter of First United Methodist Church officiated. The organist was Mrs. Dennis Barkela, and the vocalist was Mrs. Warren Schoepf. Karen Rooney and Anita Zellmer cared for the flowers. Burial was made in the Hillside Cemetery at Sheffield. Pallbearers were Bill Eno, Jr., Rex Levitt, Mike Harris, Steve Hirsch, Jim Blood and Ed Humberg. Grarup Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Maude E. Jones, daughter of Charles U. and Margaret McClemons Titus, was born April 3, 1905. She received her education in the rural schools in that vicinity. Sept. 17, 1924, she was united in marriage to Lee Jones at Clarion. Nine children were born to this union. They resided in Sheffield their entire married lifetime. Some of the hobbies she enjoyed most were cooking, antiques and her flowers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ramona) Walker, Mrs. Marguerite Tidman, both of Hampton; three sons, Marshall Jones of Fort Dodge, Denzil Jones of Mason City and Joseph Jones of Minneapolis, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Lee, Feb. 9, 1955 (85); four infant children; one brother, Bill Titus; two sisters, Florence Burns, Iva Cunningham; one grandson, Gene Brocka.
