LuVerne C. Oleson, 86 of Dows, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 1, at the Morgan United Methodist Church, rural Dows, with the Rev. David L. Gobeli officiating. Burial was in Morgan Township Cemetery, rural Dows. The Elledge Funeral Home, Dows, was in charge of the arrangements. Honorary casket bearers were nieces and nephews Mary Lou Nissen, Katharin Leffler, Faith Enriquez, Elizabeth Oleson, Marilyn Duda, Madalyn Richmann, Michael Ryan, James Ryan and Timothy Ryan. Casket bearers were Richard Blackford, Norval Korth, Roger McCullough, Darrell McVicker, Larry McVicker, and Steve Tassinari.

LuVerne was born Jan. 28, 1912, in the home in which he was living at the time of his death. He was the son of Lars and Mary (Rasmussen) Oleson. He attended Dows School and graduated with the class of 1928. From 1929 to 1942, he was employed by Franklin County as a road maintenance operator. On Dec. 28, 1940, he married Juanita McCollough at her home in Hamilton Township in Franklin County. After his employment with Franklin County ended, he began farming his mother's home place until 1945. LuVerne and Juanita moved to their present home in Franklin County in 1947 and continued farming until the time of his death. He was a member of Morgan United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, of Dows; a sister, Melba Ryan of Dows; and several nieces and nephews. He as preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
