MARY LOUISE BRENNAN -- Des Moines

Mary Brennan passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Kavanagh on Grand in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Following the services, her body will be donated to Des Moines University for research. Mary was born in Clarion, IA on January 14, 1924. Mary retired from the Veterans Administration where she worked as a medical transcriptionist in Des Moines. She also was a homemaker and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mary was active in her neighborhood and enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles and traveling.

Mary is survived by five sons, David Mark (Linda) of West Des Moines, Douglas James (Deanna) of Dubuque, Jeffrey Paul (Janene) of West Des Moines, James Robert of Tucson, AZ and Gregory John (Kim) of Polk City; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Kathleen, Robert, Debbie, Lindsay, Nicholas, John, Zoezonna and Zachary; one step-granddaughter, Lydia Fankhauser; brother, Charles Eugene "Gene" Henely (Anna Marie) of rural Charles City; sister, Vivian Leatherby of Houston, TX; niece, Kathy Haering; and nephew, Kenneth Henely.

Family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dunn's Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Central Iowa.
