Esther I. DeFrance, 91, of Des Moines, died Sunday, May 18, 2003 at Kavanagh House in West Des Moines. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at Glen Echo Christian Church, with entombment in Merle Hay Mausoleum in Des Moines. Esther was born in Clarion, IA and had lived in Des Moines for over 40 years. She worked for over 15 years as a cashier for Hinky Dinky, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Glen Echo Christian Church.

She is survived by two sons, Steven of Madrid and David of Des Moines two daughters, Nancy DeFrance of Des Moines and Kim Milner of the Denver, CO area and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. DeFrance. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa Kavanagh House on Grand.
