Beryl E. Wolfe, 66, a retired bricklayer and a former officer with Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Union Local 56, died Saturday, Jan. 27, in his Glen Ellyn home. "It was so nice to drive around Glen Ellyn and see much of his work," said Mr. Wolfe's wife, Charlene. Born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mr. Wolfe was a former resident of Hillside and Westchester. He had lived for 42 years in the Glen Ellyn home he built. Mr. Wolfe earned his union pin when he was 27 and worked residential and commercial buildings. "He was an excellent craftsman," his wife said. "It was just something he loved to do." A member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he played on the dart team, Mr. Wolfe was also a bowler, an outdoorsman and an avid angler. "We spent a lot of wonderful days camping up in Door County, [Wis.]," his wife said. Mr. Wolfe served in the Army during the late 1950s. He is also survived by a daughter, Nancy Mariotti; a son, Timothy; his mother, Vivian; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Leonard Memorial Home Ltd., 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Grace Lutheran Church, 493 Forest Ave., Glen Ellyn.
