Darlene J. Bucholz, 65, of 278 Knox County Road 450 E died at 2:54 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. Born Nov. 28, 1938, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to LaVern and Johanna Gerzema Lemke, she married Darold Bucholz on Dec. 22, 1962, in Dows, Iowa. He survives in rural St. Augustine. Also surviving are one son, John of St. Augustine; three sisters, Nancy (and Tom) Kornfeld of Greenville, S.C., Judy Gorder of Dows, Iowa, and Linda (and John) Kidney of Webster City, Iowa; and one brother, Dennis (and Avon) Lemke of Dows. She was preceded in death by one son.

She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa Teachers College in 1962. She was a former treasurer and member of the Odd Fellows Association of Fairview. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Fairview. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Morgan Township Cemetery in rural Dows. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dows Community Funeral Home in Dows. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
