Vera Sybil Blackman, 92, of Boise passed away peacefully at a local hospital on Monday, June 6, 2005, surrounded by her family. Vera was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa March 31,1913 to parents Albin and Iva Blomquist, both of Swedish ancestry. She lived in Eagle Grove, Iowa for 75 years before moving to Meridian with her family. Vera was a lifelong member of the Eagle Grove Methodist Church and a member of the Meridian United Methodist Church. Vera was a seamstress and worked with her husband Russell in their dry cleaning business in Eagle Grove. She was very proud of Russell, who served his country in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. She enjoyed a lifelong interest in the outdoors; fishing, bird watching and flowers of all kinds. Vera will be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandma. She reminds us of the precious gift of family and will be dearly missed. Vera Blackman is survived by her son Jim and daughter-in-law Patti of Middleton, Idaho; granddaughters Jennifer (Brian) Fox of Meridian, Kimberly (Roman) Sentowski of Bartlett, Ill., Gretchen Blackman of Boise, Rebecca Blackman of Boise, and Bridget (Ryan) Eytchison of Boise. There are 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Special family members include Barbara Smith (Leonard), Barbara Blackman Welsh (Frank), Signe Blackman, Eunice Blackman, and Francis Blackman. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell, and granddaughter Alexandra. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, 240 East Idaho in Meridian, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005.
