Roger Allan Toillion, the son of Harlan Joseph and Marcella (Emerick) Toillion, was born Aug. 27, 1938, in Troy Township near Eagle Grove where he was raised. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1956. On Aug. 13, 1960, Roger was united in marriage to Bonnie A. Knock at Blue Earth, Minn. From this union six children were born, Kathryn, Joseph, David, Diane, Margaret and Michael. Roger was self employed most of his life working in sales and crop insurance. He was an active sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing and wildlife. Together, they loved to travel and spent many miles on the road in their motor home. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Roger was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Roger passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006, at Country View Care Center in Waterloo at the age of 67 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lawrence Toillion; and a grandson, Lucas Toillion.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Eagle Grove; six children, Kathryn Walters and Larry Aswegan of New Hartford, Joseph Toillion and wife Kim of Jewell, David Toillion of North Liberty, Diane Jessen and husband Brad of Eagle Grove, Margaret Steffensmeier and husband Gary of Wallhalben, Germany, and Michael Toillion of Eagle Grove; and 16 grandchildren, Kris, Kreg and Kasey Walters, Zachary, Haley and Jordan Toillion, Alexis Toillion, Crystal, Alissa and Colton Jessen, Harley, Elizabeth and Isabella Steffensmeier, and Natasha, Logan and Jagger Toillion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Chris Podasky celebrating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary and vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Troy Cemetery south of Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
