Maxine Thompson, 90, of Belmond, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the Belmond Medical Center. Maxine Thompson was born on January 17, 1915, in Clarion, the daughter of Lewis and Mabel Thompson Bell. She graduated from the Clarion Schools and then attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. On May 9, 1936, Maxine was united in marriage to Eugene I. Nagle at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines. Maxine joined the Women's Army Corps in 1943 and stayed with them for almost three years. She then lived in Clarion until 1951. She left the First National Bank after working there for 17 years in order to farm southwest of Mason City. She continued farming near Mason City until retiring in 1978. Maxine then moved into town and traveled most of the time. Maxine moved to Clear Lake in 1980. Gene died June 5, 1985. On June 12, 1987, she married R. B. Thompson of Belmond. She remained in Belmond until her recent passing.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Richard; one son, Mark (Beth) Nagle of Des Moines; a stepson, Dudley (Concha Delgado) of El Cerrito, California; and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Gene; and a son, Larry in 1939.
