Richard Lee Amonson, 75, of Clarion, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the Wright Medical Center, Clarion. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 27, at the United Methodist Church in Clarion. Pastor Don Morrison officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Richard Lee Amonson was born on August 26, 1930, in Eagle Grove, the son of Omer and Bernice (Johnson) Amonson. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from the Eagle Grove High School in 1948. He also attended Junior College in Eagle Grove. On April 10, 1953, Dick was united in marriage to Lila Mason in Eagle Grove. To this union two daughters were born. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January of 1949 to January 1950 and was an Army Reservist until August 1953. He loved his country and was very patriotic. He owned and operated the Amonson Truck Line. Dick then worked for Cargill, Inc. in Clarion for 18 1/2 years doing a variety of jobs until he retired in 1992. Dick loved to visit, especially the residents of the care centers. Saturday was spent at the Rotary Ann in Eagle Grove and Sunday at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. He enjoyed riding his bike and quite often you would see Lila and Dick riding together. Dick was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion.

Dick is survived by his wife, Lila of Clarion; two daughters, Cindy Riley and husband, Doug and Joy Amonson and companion, Will Johnson, all of Clarion; two grandchildren; one brother, Lyle Amonson and wife, Gwen of Eagle Grove; two sisters, Marlene Jorgensen and Jean Jorgensen and husband, Rod, all of Eagle Grove; and many nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bernadine Tuttle; and one brother, Oren Amonson.
