Harley D. LaRue, 83, of Dows, died on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 22, at the Park Church of Christ, Goldfield. Pastors David Miller and Robert Dishman officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Harley D. LaRue was born on April 16, 1923, in Dows, the son of Dewey and Helen (Appleby) LaRue. He attended country schools and graduated from the Eagle Grove High School in 1943. In October of 1943, Harley was united in marriage with Jean Baker in Eagle Grove. Harley served during World War II in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Harley was employed with Farmland Industries from 1947 to his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed painting his antiques and farming with his Allis Chalmers. He also liked watching game shows, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.

Harley is survived by a son, Alvin LaRue and wife, Sheila; three daughters, Bonnie Pauls and husband, Doug, Barb LaRue and Bev LaRue, all of Eagle Grove; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Boyd LaRue and wife, Betty of Clarion and Earl LaRue and wife, Dee of Des Moines; and a sister, Arlene Hanson of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; one son, Alan in 1999; three brothers, Harvey, Marvin and Ronald; three sisters, Muriel and two infant twins; and one grandson.
