Minnie Irene Pals died June 26, 2002, in Belmond. Funeral services were held Monday, July 1, at Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond with Rev. Herm Gruis and Rev. Melvin Voss officiating. Music was provided by Shirley Kuhlers, organist; Jerry Boelman, vocalist. Ushers were Ron Steenblock and Lyle Pals. Interment was at Belmond Cemetery. Casket bearers were Douglas Pals, Philip Pals, Harold McFadden, Don Munson, Dan Kraft, Heath Jones, Dennis Pals, Ole Olson, James Mabry, and Jeremy Bradfield.

Minnie Irene Boelman was born June 25, 1916, in rural Belmond, the daughter of Nysco and Fannie (Pals) Boelman. She attended rural school in District 4 Pleasant Township. Minnie and Raymond E. Pals were united in marriage on March 11, 1937 at the Reformed Church parsonage at Palsville. The couple farmed in the local area for many years, moving to Belmond in the early 1980's. They later became residents of the Belmond Community Apartments. Minnie was a charter member of the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond and a lifetime member of the Bethany Reformed RCW Ladies of the church. She was a very family oriented person, who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and their families. Minnie also enjoyed being in the company of friends and visiting. Reading was also a favorite pastime. She had been a resident of the Belmond Health Care Center for the past three and one-half years.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Charlotte Pals, Wayne and Marilyn Pals, Gary and Darlene Pals, all of Belmond; daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Clyde Pursell of Kelso, Washington; a brother and sister-in-law, Jelto "Jake" and Janet Boelman of Belmond; sister and brother-in-law, June and Cecil Mosiman of Belmond; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Lucille Boelman of Belmond; sisters-in-law, Berniece Pals and Marcele Kottman of Thornton, and Mary Pals of Clear Lake; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
