Mary Louise Benson, 66, of Burnside, died March 23, 2002 at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. A memorial service was held Thursday, March 28, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside with burial in West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh.
Mary Louise Benson was born September 5, 1935, on a farm in Troy Township in Wright County, the daughter of Frank Emory and Anna Marie Peterson Thompson. Mary attended local rural schools and graduated from Belmond High School in 1954. She married Robert O. Benson November 20, 1955 at the Congregational Church in Belmond. They lived in Stratford and Burnside. Mary was a member of the Immanuel Church in Burnside, the Women of E.L.C.A. and the L.C.W., a member of the Golden Memories Club, Lehigh Area Development, Lehigh River Days, Women's Club and Rebekahs Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1991; and three brothers, Robert, Keith and Harold. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Benson of Burnside, Robert O. Benson, II, of Duncombe, Clark Benson of Stratford; three daughters, Doris Murray of Boone, Katherine Frazier of Burnside, Sharon Benson of Webster City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gerald and Millie Thompson of Belmond, Marvin and Margie Thompson of Guthrie Center, Ronald Thompson of Davenport; many nieces and nephews.
